Desolate Deep

Fisch ยท Fishing Location

Overview

The Desolate Deep is a mysterious and challenging location in Fisch, known for its shadowy underwater landscapes and intricate cave systems. This area is considered a mid-to-late game destination due to the need for specialized gear like the Basic or Advanced Diving Gear, or even a Submarine for safer navigation. The Desolate Deep is infamous for its perilous passages lined with explosive naval mines, requiring players to be both cautious and well-prepared.

This location features an ominous vibe, emphasized by its dark visuals and the haunting soundtrack "Children Of The Stars." Players are drawn to this area not only for the thrill of exploration but also for the opportunity to encounter rare fish species unique to the Desolate Deep. The underwater journey begins at the Point Nemo Buoy, where players dive into a trench that leads to the depths below.

Sub-areas within the Desolate Deep, such as the Desolate Pocket and Brine Pool, offer further exploration opportunities and encounters with NPCs. The left cave passage houses a Merchant where players can acquire essential equipment, while the right passage leads to the Desolate Pocket, a small island cave with additional NPCs and pathways to more secluded zones.

Navigating Desolate Deep is an adventure in itself, requiring players to make strategic decisions at every turn. Whether it's choosing the right path in the cave or acquiring the necessary gear, every choice impacts the success of a player's journey.

Submarine Route

For a safer approach, use a Submarine. This allows you to take the right cave passage without the risk of drowning or hitting naval mines. The Submarine's light also helps in spotting hazards.

Cave Passage

The Desolate Deep's cave system offers two main pathways: the left and right caves. Each leads to unique sub-areas and encounters. Following the left path leads to a slim cave where players will encounter a Merchant and a fellow diver. Here, essential items such as the Flippers, Super Flippers, Crab Cage, and Reinforced Rod can be purchased. This area also allows fishing in a pond with species from the Desolate Deep Bestiary.

Opting for the right cave path guides players to the Desolate Pocket. This area features a small cave island with a Merchant and two other NPCs. To reach the Brine Pool from here, a Glider or Tidebreaker is required. Players must follow the direction indicated by an NPC holding a lantern to find the entrance to the Brine Pool. A Reinforced Rod is necessary for fishing in this secluded area.

Trivia

  • Desolate Deep features a sub-location, the Desolate Pocket, which is also included in the Bestiary, similar to Roslit Volcano.
  • A known glitch after the Northern Expedition (Version 1.11.0) update causes the Desolate Deep's visual effects and music not to trigger if a player spawns directly there.
